I was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1972 I'm an associate professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the Universitat de Lleida. You can reach me by telephone, mail or e-mail as specified at left. My BD is Physics (Universitat de Barcelona) and my PhD Thesis is related to Computer Science (Universitat Pompeu Fabra). I have some experience in enterprise. I worked as a webmaster in Greens-HONDA for two years I have visited and worked for: one month in Trieste (Italy) in non-linear dynamics - ICTP-Trieste three months in Brest (France) in ad-hoc applications - Telecom Bretagne two months in Rome (Italy) in ontologies - CNR-Rome two monts in Galway (Ireland) in Semantic Data Mining - DERI-Galway More concretely, I'm conducing my research at the GRIHO Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research group.

PhD Thesis

The PhD Thesis is entitled "Agents negotiating in a Semantic Web Architecture". It explores the possibilities of employing Knowledge Representation tools, concretely Semantic Web Ontologies, in order to build Digital Right Management (DRM) Systems. The main contribution of this work is the Copyright Ontology and the Semantic DRM System, SemDRMS where agents are able to negotiate in a network architecture

Projects

Rhizomik is an initiative that collects some projects that apply the "rhizome" vision to the Semantic Web, Complex Systems and Cognitive Science:

• Rhizomer: it is the technological framework used to build up the Rhizomik semantic web portal. It allows RDF metadata navigation and edition from a user-friendly HTML frontend.
• ReDeFer: it englobes a set of tools to connect the Sematic Web to other Information Systems areas:
  • RDF to HTML: RDF2HTML is a translator used to render metadata in the Rhizomik portal.
  • XML Schema to OWL: XSD2OWL maps the semantic hidden in XML Schemas to OWL in order to build the ontology that captures the constraints imposed by the schema. It facilitates connecting XML based initiatives to the Semantic Web, e.g. the MPEG-7 Ontology.
  • XML to RDF: XML2RDF maps XML instances to RDF metadata in the context of a previous mapping of the XMLSchemas that structure the source XML to the corresponding OWL ontologies. Consequently, we get semantics-enabled translation of the source XML data, e.g. SemanticXBRL.
  • RDF to SVG: renders RDF as graph using SVG.
• Living Semantic Web: application of Complex Systems analysis tools to knowledge networks, particularly to the Semantic Web. It has been applied to Ad-hoc applictions as well as semantic searching tools.
• Semantic DRM System: a Semantic Web approach to Digital Rights Management.
